We are pleased to be able to offer the World Wide Patented CE-approved Supra LoRad replacement mains cables in unterminated lengths 'off the reel'. Two diameters are available: the NEW 'slim-line' 1.5mm version as well as the existing 2.5mm (both in stock now).
LoRad stands for Low Radiation of electric and magnetic alternating fields.
This is a 3 core mains flex which uses a patented screening technology to minimise electrically induced signals and protects your equipment from radiated mains noise. This is especially important nowadays, due to the increasing number of cables being connected to hi-fi and home cinema equipment. As such, it's possible for mains interference to infiltrate your system, leading to increased noise on both audio and video signals.
LoRad is also very flexible and can be used to improve the performance of many hi-fi and home cinema products. CD and DVD players and amplifiers seem to gain the most benefit from using LoRad. And you can use it to re-wire your multi-way distribution blocks, which power your entire system.
Needless to say, LoRad has been fully approved by a leading European testing house to meet all relevant safety requirements and hence is FULLY CE-APPROVED. As such (and unlike some competitor cables) LoRad is an ideal choice for any audio or home cinema system.
Be sure to download the 'SAFETY ADVICE' document, available via our home page, so you know how to connect the conductors within LoRad to mains connectors (although they are colour coded as per UK specifications).
Suitable connectors featured in this section include: 1) Supra 13A UK Mains plug and Supra IEC In-Line connectors, both of which are available in Ice Blue colour (to match the LoRad cable).. 2) Schurter-made IEC connectors available in either 'straight' or 'right-angle' types, as well as either 'HOT' or 'COLD' temperature variants. 3) Furutech IEC line connectors, which are available with Rhodium-plated contacts.
Note: We do not have any Figure-8 style plugs or adaptors - however, we have found out, via one of our customers, that Maplin can supply a basic 'Telefunken' re-wireable 2-pin plug (Part Number FT99H) for about 69p each. Visit Maplin Website
Some of these parts are not made by Supra but are offered to complement your existing equipment.
